NICK ROSS

Managing Director

Nick has over 15 years experience as a Chartered Planning & Development Surveyor, working in Manchester and London, purchasing development sites for city centre residential and mixed-use schemes. He was Property Director for Access Storage, Europe’s largest self storage operator before leaving to set up moon design+build in 2001. Nick is our first point of contact for all new business enquiries. He has a strong passion for modern design and a very keen eye for detail and quality. Nick is married with two children and enjoys mountain biking and sea kayaking.

TONY NEWMAN

Construction Director

Tony started his career as a Site Engineer with Alfred McAlpine plc before moving into private practice where he project managed residential refurbishment and new build schemes for several large housing associations. Tony later became Head of Construction at Safestore plc, managing the process of turning secondary industrial buildings into new generation storage centres. Tony runs the “build side” of our business, making sure our projects are consistently delivered to our very high standards. Tony lives in Bristol with his partner and two children and he enjoys cycling and sea kayaking.

PAUL HALFORD

Design Director

Paul studied Architecture at Oxford Brookes University and has worked in private practice for 18 years on a mix of domestic and commercial projects with a strong emphasis on creative re-use and the development of robust but beautiful detailing. Paul worked as a Project Architect at Architecton for 6 years before leaving to join moon design+build. With an in-depth knowledge of building regulations and planning issues, Paul is responsible for the architectural services, designing exciting schemes that are deliverable and practical. Paul is married with two children.

SEAMUS MCKENNA

Project Manager

Séamus started his career in his family business McKenna Contractors, working on high-end private dwellings in Ireland. After working as a Construction Manager in Malawi, he moved to Bristol and worked in retail for Midas Projects. Séamus later worked for Urban Splash in Plymouth and Bristol. He has also worked as a shipwright in New Zealand and at the Underfall Boatyard in Bristol. Seamus works closely with Tony managing our projects, ensuring the teams on-site have all the information, drawings, materials and human resources required to maintain the very high quality of work for which moon is renowned. Séamus’ interests include Cornish pilot gig rowing and going to music gigs.

SORCHA TORRENS

Project Administrator & Interiors Co-ordinator

Sorcha studied furniture design before moving into a project management position for various businesses, including Legoland and the Undetectables. Her role at moon involves assisting with design and drawing work, helping clients make choices such as kitchens and bathrooms, materials and finishes as well as general project management across our sites. Sorcha lives in Bristol with her partner and enjoys gardening and sewing.

ANDREW BROWN

Architect

Andrew joins moon with a wealth of experience from a number of award winning practices across London and the UK. Cutting his teeth at Buckley Gray Yeoman, he then moved on to Glasgow and the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park and has spent the last five years at MUMA in London. He has designed and project managed a variety of projects, from new build holiday cottages to arts and cultural buildings. Andrew is now looking forward to joining the team at moon, helping them to continue to raise the bar in the quality of design, construction and service on offer in Bristol and the surrounding areas.

NIKI HOOPER

Architectural Technician

Niki joined us a few months ago as a contract CAD technician, working with the design team in the production of working drawings for use on site. Niki recently completed a HNC in construction and is currently an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technology. She has great construction knowledge and, along with her CAD skills, has become a valuable member of the design team at moon. We hope to make her a full time employee in the New Year when we move to our new office. Niki lives in Bristol and is a keen snowboarder, kayaker and jewellery maker.

BILLY BUTLER

Assistant Architect

Billy has joined the design team working as an Architectural Assistant. He studied Architecture at Oxford Brookes University and is currently Part II qualified, hoping to fully qualify as an architect while working at moon. Prior to joining us in the office, Billy has worked as a self employed carpenter on moon sites for the last twelve months, giving him invaluable experience of how buildings are put together. This focus on 'build-ability' is a key aspect to moon's design approach. Billy lives in Bristol and enjoys cycling.

JOE MURRAY

Project Manager

moon has recently promoted Joe from site manager to office based project manager. Joe starting working for moon in 2005 as a self-employed site carpenter and has subsequently become one of our site managers. He has fantastic construction knowledge and a very keen eye for quality. Now based in the office, Joe will continue to pass on his skills and knowledge to the site managers as well as making sure projects are on time and on budget.
